On May 10, Washington Kastles Coach Murphy Jensen led a tennis clinic at Kastles Stadium at The Wharf for 15 students from nearby Jefferson Academy. Each of the students received their very own tennis racquet to keep, as well as a Kastles T-shirt.
Despite heavy winds, the children looked right at home hitting tennis balls on the same court as Serena and Venus Williams of the reigning World TeamTennis champion Kastles. After honing their forehands and backhands with Coach Jensen, the kids returned to school and several immediately resumed playing on Jefferson Academy’s tennis courts.
The Washington Kastles return to the Southwest Waterfront July 12-24 following their historic 16-0 season in 2011, when they captured their second WTT title in three years.
