Gene Seymour, journalist, culture critic, author, and Southwest resident, is the featured presenter on Wednesday, October 2nd, 2013 at St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church’s monthly Art and Spirit Coffeehouse. The 7 pm program at the church located at 600 M St SW includes coffee and desserts served throughout the evening, followed by a question and answer session. His topic is “2013 in Movies: What’s Out Now, What’s Been Out, What’s Coming Soon.”
Gene has spent over 31 years as a professional journalist, author, and culture critic with the last 20 years writing about music, movies, and other cultural attractions for New York’s Newsday. Seymour continues to write about cultural events for such outlets as The Washington Spectator, The Nation, Film Comment, American History, and CNN.com. The Southwest Episcopal Church’s Art & Spirit Coffeehouse series opens on the first Wednesday of each month to showcase local artists in their various media as they perform and share how their faith, art, and social worldview intersect, according to the Rev. Martha Clark, Priest-in-Charge at St. Augustine’s. Donations will be accepted to help provide honoraria for the guest artists.
