First aid, child choking rescue, and CPR will be taught to Southwest middle-school boys and girls ages 11-13 in a free Safesitter class in Southwest on Saturday, December 7th, from 8:30 am to 4 pm at St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church 600 M St SW. A continental breakfast and lunch are provided.

Southwest residents Thelma Jones and Cheryl Hansberry Moore are trained, certified Safesitter instructors who will teach your child(ren) self-confidence in any emergency, whether they are home alone or at a neighbor’s house taking care of younger children.

Parents can register their children by Monday, December 2nd, by contacting Youth Activities Task Force Chair Thelma Jones at 202-251-1639 or tjones15@verizon.net.

Since the early 2000s, more than 70 youth have taken the Youth Activities Task Force Safesitter training. Until recently, YATF held the distinct honor of being the only registered Safesitter site in the nation’s capital.
