Coach Frank Briscoe took two strong teams into the 2016 DCIAA Indoor Track Championship on Jan. 13, 2016 and came out with the Boys Championship Trophy and Girls Runner-Up Trophy. More than 11 boy and girl elementary school teams and about 200 students from around the District of Columbia competed at the Prince George’s Sports & Learning Complex. The Amidon-Bowen boys were led by team medalist fourth grader Ryan Johnson, who added 24 points to the team total and finished first in the Boys Long Jump (10’04”) and first in the Boys 400 Meter Dash (1.17.09). Kyla Jackson, also a fourth grader, added 18.5 points to the team total and finished first in the Girls 1600 Meter (6:45.11) and first in the Girls 1600 Meter Sprint Relay (5:52.03). Darryl Knight (fifth grade) finished first in the 1600 Meter (06:13.8); first in the 800 Meter Run; and first in the 1600 Sprint Relay. Darryl was also the Boys DCIAA 2015 Cross Country Champion.
