The Southwest Neighborhood Assembly’s History Task Force is in the initial phases of exploring an exciting new project to preserve the first-hand experiences and recollections of our established residents. We are looking into the prospects of doing an oral history project to capture personal perspectives and memories of the changes in Southwest DC over the last several decades. During this planning phase we are asking for volunteers and/or suggestions from long-time Southwest residents who would be willing to share their stories for the project, which we hope to be able to archive and share with our neighbors. These oral histories will hopefully be an important pieces of preserving the cultural story of our area.
If you would like to volunteer or would like to suggest someone who you think would be willing to help out with this effort, please contact Ryan Pierce of the History Task Force at history@swdc.org. Interested and engaged volunteers are also always welcome to help us accomplish the general mission of researching and promoting the heritage of Southwest DC, so let us know if you are interested in joining the task force.
