Name: Daniela Petrilli
Home: I have been calling Washington, DC, my home since 2008. I relocated from New Jersey and moved to Southwest in 2014 where I purchased my first home, a condo at Potomac Place Tower. I have created relationships with amazing people not only in my building, but in the Southwest community as well. Everyone has become like family.
Occupation: I am the founder and president of Operation MCP (Making Careers Possible).
What is Operation MCP? The idea of Operation MCP was conceived after the passing of my father, United States Army Sergeant Michael Carlo Petrilli. My dad served in Vietnam and upon his return, he struggled and resources to help veterans return to civilian life were scarce. To honor my late father, I asked myself what I could do to help veterans. With my educational background and professional experience in human resources, Operation MCP was born. Operation MCP assists veterans and service members with free résumé writing and interview preparation to transition them from the military to the civilian workforce. If you would like to get involved, please download, complete and email the volunteer application to Daniela Petrilli at info@operationmcp.org.
How has living in Southwest made it easier for you to do your job? Living in Southwest provides me with access to veterans in the community. Given the fact that I’m located close to Fort McNair, Bolling Air Force Base, Navy Yard, and other areas densely populated with veterans, Operation MCP is able to provide assistance to those veterans. When I’m not working, I attend concerts, games, and other local events. In the summer, friends and I love to spend time at the marina and golf at Hains Point. Southwest is a suburban-like neighborhood, but I am able to enjoy all the benefits of living in a city. I love being able to call Southwest my home!
What do you look forward to most? I am looking forward to the warm weather and events to enjoy with friends. I am also really excited to watch Operation MCP grow not only in Southwest, but nationwide as well.
