On June 24, 2024, the Southwest Neighborhood Assembly hosted a forum at Arena Stage entitled “Public Safety Forum in SW DC – It Takes a Village.” The participants highlighted the strong coordination between the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) and community organizations, but agreed that more can be done to prevent crime, intervene with youth, and improve public safety. Participants in the discussion were Commander Colin Hall, MPD First District; Dwayne Falwell, Together We Rise and SW Working Group; Jawanna Hardy, Guns Down Friday; and Mike Goodman, Moderator, The Southwester. Approximately 75 people attended the forum.
