On Sept. 23, Washington Nationals pitcher Patrick Corbin and his family visited the Nationals Youth Baseball Academy in Ward 7. In addition to touring the facility and meeting with Scholar Athletes, the Corbin family participated in a special ceremony recognizing a recent contribution the family made to the Academy’s youth development programming. The Corbin donation will help support the cost of year-round programming for more than 400 children. To honor their generosity, a scoreboard was dedicated in their name.
The Youth Baseball Academy is the signature program of Nationals Philanthropies, the official charitable arm of the Washington Nationals. The Academy has delivered 10 years of holistic youth development, academic enrichment, wellness education and youth sports experiences to thousands of school-age children living east of the Anacostia River. This summer alone, more than 900 D.C. youth participated in Academy programming and nearly 16,000 meals were distributed through the weekly market, D.C. Central cooking classes and YBA PLAY programming.
