Southwest Community Gardens will celebrate its 10th anniversary on Saturday, July 29 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in Lansburgh Park (1098 Delaware Ave SW), and we hope you can join us! The event will include music from JoGo Project, a local GoGo/jazz fusion band, as well as food and kids’ music and movement activities with City Sing And Play.

As part of the celebrations, we’ve partnered with Inside Out Project, “a platform that helps communities around the world to stand up for what they believe in and spark global change locally,” to highlight some of the people over our 10-year history who have ensured the garden maintains our mission “to create a space where neighbors can connect with one another in a hands-on, peaceful, and respectful environment around the activity of growing produce.”  Visit insideoutproject.net to learn more.

To help make the event possible, Southwest Gardens is fundraising to cover all costs so that the event is free for all attendees. To donate, visit bit.ly/swgardens2023 and help us reach our goal of $5,000! Additional funds will be used to repair some of our garden beds that have fallen into disrepair after 10 years. We’re grateful they have lasted as long as they have!

Additionally, we are selling 10th anniversary T-shirts and tank tops to commemorate this special anniversary! If you are interested in purchasing one, please contact us at swgardensdc@gmail. As always, anyone is welcomed to the garden during our communal hours on Sundays from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
