Join the Thelma D. Jones Breast Cancer Fund on Zoom and Facebook Live Wednesday, Jan. 15, at 6:30 pm as they celebrate the New Year and kick off their first support group meeting for the new year. Guest speaker Sara Horton, MD, Strategic Clinical Trials Access and Partnerships, Lead Quantum Leap Healthcare Collaborative, Affiliate Associate Professor, Howard University Cancer Center will discuss the meaning of advocacy, its importance, and how to become the best advocate for your health and other efforts.
Opening and closing remarks will be given by Emmy-Award Winning Journalist Andrea Roane, and Sylvia Powers, Breast Cancer Advocate, National Consortium of Breast Centers (NCBC) will talk about her work as an advocate and NCBC goals for advocacy. A salute to Roane will be given for her trailblazing efforts in advocacy, especially through her Buddy Check 9 initiative which she started in 1993 to spread awareness of breast cancer and the benefits of early detection while serving a nearly four-decade career at WUSA9.
