Mayor Gray and the Council have appointed 10 persons to the DC Tax Revision Commission which will be reporting back to the DC Council in mid-2013. A hearing for public witnesses was held at 4 pm,  Monday Dec. 3, in Room 412, 1101  4th St. SW.

Former Mayor Anthony Williams is Chair of the Commission.

The Commission has issued the following dates on which possible changes to various DC taxes will be considered:

Jan 7, 2013 – Tax abatements and tax expenditures (deductions and exemptions)

May 6, 2013 – Retail Sales Tax, including present exemptions of nonprofits

May 20, 2013 – Real Property Tax, residential and commercial

June 3, 2013 – Tax-exempt Nonprofits possibly paying “Payments-in-lieu-of taxes.”

June 3, 2013 – Property Tax Exceptions and Deductions
