The SW ArtsFest is one of the Washington, DC area’s largest neighborhood festivals in one of its smallest quadrants. Each year brings new artists, more children’s focused activities, and a broader array of interactive events for all ages. This year marks the festival’s third year, which has been announced for September 28, 2013.
“We’re pleased to bring back some of our festival favorites,” says Kael Anderson, president of SW ArtsFest, “but we’re also excited about some of the new activities and artists who will be joining us this year.” Confirmed events include:
- Jazz Preservation Festival: featuring live jazz performances from regional bands and musical groups
- Parade of Decorated Bikes: A Rolling Art Parade, bringing the arts to all with hands-on decorating and an environmentally friendly bike ride through the SW neighborhood that ends at the festival
- Blues and Blowfish: Show your creativity and learn how to craft a Blowfish into art by a team of resourceful artists while enjoying live Blues on the waterfront by some of the District’s most talented musicians..
- Washington Walks: discover the remarkable history of the Southwest waterfront neighborhood from the Arena Stage to the Underground Railroad.
- End of Summer Fair: will include music, arts & crafts vendors, bake sale and fried fish sandwiches, moonbounce plus other children’s activities, and Fabulous Finds for sale.
All activities are subject to change. A complete SW ArtsFest 2013 festival map and schedule will be available in September.
