On Wednesday, December 4th, at 6:30 PM the public is invited to discuss what’s possible for the 10th St SW corridor. This significant connection links the National Mall to the Southwest Waterfront. At the meeting the National Capital Planning Commission will present refined design concepts for 10th Street and an interim connection at Banneker Overlook. An open house will follow the formal presentation where attendees are invited to take a closer look at the designs and talk directly with the project planners and designers.
The concept designs are part of efforts to advance the Southwest Ecodistrict, a vision to transform a 15-block federal precinct just south of the National Mall into a showcase of sustainable urban development. In addition to accommodating the future space needs of the federal government, the Ecodistrict will extend the civic qualities of the National Mall, create new places to live, and promote a vibrant, open, and walkable neighborhood and workplace. The Initiative involves 17 federal and District agencies and is being led by the National Capital Planning Commission.
