The ninth  M&M’S® Opera in the Outfield presentation broadcast live from the Kennedy Center Opera House in high definition on the NatsHD scoreboard will take place on Saturday, Sept. 24 at Nationals Park. Gates will open at 5 p.m.
This year’s treat is Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro—one of the top 10 performed operas—not only because it’s great, but also because it’s so much fun.
The story centers around the handsome Figaro, the barber of Seville and personal valet to Count Almaviva, who is to marry the sweet Susanna, the Countess’s maid, for whom the Count has lustful designs. Figaro’s foxy plan swirls everyone in a farcical whirlwind of antics. In the end, true love triumphs over temptation. All set to the glorious music of Mozart!
“Pregame” activities for the entire family include Warner Brother’s 1957 classic What’s Opera, Doc? featuring Elmer Fudd chasing Bugs Bunny, voted No. 1 of the 50 greatest cartoons. There are opportunities to win gift certificates and much more before the opera begins at 7 p.m.
This is a free event. Seating will be available on the outfield grass and in the stands. More information can be found at: https://www.kennedy-center.org/wno/simulcast
