The Omicron Eta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated will host the Fourth Annual Southwest Community Day Saturday, Sept. 16 from noon to 5 p.m. at Lansburgh Park, 1098 Delaware Ave. SW. The Community Day event is free and open to the public and will include health screening, educational resources, and financial planning with the goal of spreading mindfulness throughout the community.
Chartered in Southwest DC in 1985, the Omicron Eta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. began Community Day in Southwest four years ago. The event’s goal is to register citizens to vote, pass out school supplies and materials to kids, provide health screenings, and highlight the benefits of an education. Community Day, along with the chapter’s annual toy drive, turkey giveaway, adopt-a-block initiative, and mentoring program serve as part of a long-term chapter commitment to foster overall wellness and growth in Southwest.
Participants will have the chance to enjoy food, music, games, and entertainment. There will be opportunities to learn about financial growth and wellness, mentoring and coaching, and receive free health screenings. The Omicron Eta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. welcomes and encourages people of all ages to come out and enjoy Community Day.
