In early September, Washington Commanders quarterback Jacoby Brisset hosted a community event at King-Greenleaf Recreation Center in Southwest, designed to break down barriers between law enforcement and at-risk communities and to celebrate “safety, neighborhood unity, football, and the back-to-school season.”

The event, sponsored by DC Mayor Muriel Bowser, the National Football League Players Association, DC Department of Parks and Recreation, and Metropolitan Police Department, included 50 brand-new bikes for lucky Southwest residents and a Start the Cycle five mile bike ride led by Brisset. The event wrapped up with a post-ride finish festival featuring Commanders representatives, food, fun and sports.
