The Neighbors of Southwest Duck Pond are pleased to announce that June 22nd marks the return of The Little Farm Stand to the park for another season of locally grown Virginia bounty. Farmer Lori O’Rea advises the delayed date is due to the cooler than normal spring having an impact on the harvest, but she happily reports the buds which will become strawberries are now well in evidence.

The Little Farm Stand pitched its tent at the Duck Pond in August of last year and immediately became a popular stop for people out and about in the neighborhood on Saturday mornings. Running through Thanksgiving and coupled with programmed events with local school and civic groups at the park, it has added a new vitality to the area as neighbors meet neighbors and learn more about what is going on.

The initial harvest is expected to be a myriad selection of early summer berries as well as vegetables, such as asparagus. The NSWDP expects to repeat such popular features as cooking demonstrations and recipe cards.

So for the many who have asked, but who may not have seen the announcement through social media, again circle June 22nd on your calendar as the start of this encore season, and get those recipe ideas cooking. Please stop by our table for more information.
