Southwest Strong! works with other organizations to promote disaster preparedness and climate action. It puts on a wide array of disaster-focused talks, community exercises, children’s preparedness activities, Community Preparedness Fairs, and other fun activities such as a Disaster Preparedness float in the Palisades, DC July 4th parade. We pride ourselves on collaboration, education, self-reliance, inclusivity, having fun, making progress, and respect for all.
The Vice-Chair would assist in brainstorming on activity topics, reaching out to like-minded organizations and individuals throughout the city, organizing events, assisting in moderating the events, summarizing events, maintaining records, helping with community outreach, particularly at the Southwest Farmers Market, and fundraising. The ideal candidate would be a resident of Southwest DC. The one-year term would begin on April 1, 2024.
