Southwest’s Amidon-Bowen Elementary School Flag Football Team has added another trophy to its collection! The team was named the city-wide first place grand champions on May 18. Their hard work leading up to the championship was certainly displayed on the field with a much deserving win.

The team consists of fourth and fifth grade boys. The team is led by Head Coach Alan Clipper, who is a former student athlete who attended Amidon himself. He is also a full-time employee at the school and volunteers after school to coach flag football at Amidon-Bowen and coaches track and field for Jefferson Academy. Coach Clipper has been coaching flag football at Amidon-Bowen for two years and this will be the team’s second first place win.

“I would like to say thank you to the Southwest community for your support this past school year, it is deeply appreciated. To be able to coach the Amidon-Bowen Tigers Flag Football Team and win the City Championship two years in a row was a surreal experience. The student athletes of Amidon-Bowen showed a remarkable level of team work, dedication, and unity to earn the title of ‘City Champions,’” Coach Clipper said.

The Amidon-Bowen athletic program over the years has and will continue to thrive. The hard work and dedication that the Amidon-Bowen coaches are putting into their students is remarkable. They always make sure to show their students that they are a student first, and an athlete second. What a great way to end the school year!
