On Sept.18 a “Pop-up Park” appeared on 4th Street in front of CVS. This particular parklet was set up by the DC Office of Planning, and was one of 34 pop-up parks set up in DC for national Park(ing) Day.
Park(ing) Day allows groups to create a temporary “pop-up” parklet in a metered space typically reserved for on-street parking. The event takes place in cities around the world on the third Friday of September and encourages people to re-think how we allocate public space.
These two photos of the DC Office of Planning’s pop-up parklet were taken outside the 4th Street CVS by Tamara Vatnick of the DC Office of Planning.
